Give your lighter
an art shell

Your insert slips right in. FLAMUSE makes art cases only — sized for standard-size windproof lighter inserts. Keep the insert you love, give it a Van Gogh, a Hokusai or a Klimt, and skip buying a whole new lighter.

Made for people who already own a good lighter

①

Your insert slips right in

Cut to standard-size insert dimensions. Pull it out, slide it in, hear the click.

②

Keep the insert you love

The one that's been in your pocket for years stays with you. We never sell inserts.

③

Less waste

No duplicate fuel tanks, flints or wicks — just a new case.

④

Collectible editions

Relief editions are limited to 199 or 99 pieces, each laser-numbered with a certificate.

⑤

Gift-ready

Arrives in a gift box with an art card. Laser-series cases can be engraved with up to 12 characters.

How to swap in 10 seconds

No tools. No fuel spill. Works with the insert you already have.

1

Pull the insert out

Open the lid, grip the chimney and lift your insert straight out of the old case.

2

Slide it into FLAMUSE

Line up the chimney with the hinge side and push down until it sits flush.

3

Done — click!

Close the lid. Same flame, same click, new masterpiece.

Tip: let a freshly filled insert dry for a minute before swapping, and wipe away any fluid on the outside.

Will my insert fit?

Choose your lighter model to check compatibility with FLAMUSE standard cases.

Based on publicly available insert compatibility notes from major manufacturers (standard inserts fit classic cases, not slim or 1935-replica cases; torch inserts not for heavy-wall cases; 1941-replica inserts have flat, squared sides and 14 chimney holes). Final fit will be confirmed on production samples.

Stainless Relief · The craft

No colour — just the rise and shine of metal. Ideal for prints, line drawings, sculpture and ancient bronze motifs.

CNC carving

A CNC engraver mills layer by layer from a greyscale height map, for 0.1–0.5 mm deep relief with the richest detail, even on both sides. Long machining time — ideal for limited editions.

Stamping (die-pressing)

A steel die is carved, then a press forms the relief in one stroke. High tooling cost but low unit cost and great consistency — for runs of 1,000+, with shallower relief.

Chemical / laser etching

Etching removes the background so the design stands proud — suits dense line prints. About 0.05–0.15 mm deep, a "low relief" look at the lowest cost.

Laser Engraving · The craft

The lines of calligraphy, engravings and ink outlines — "carved" into metal with light

Fibre-laser engraving

A 1064 nm fibre laser scans the vector artwork line by line, removing or oxidising the surface: dark-grey matte lines on brushed chrome, bright silver lines on black matte, down to about 0.05 mm wide.

No tooling

Works straight from digital line art — no dies, so a new design is just a new file. Fast, low-risk launches.

Small batches

From a single piece, made to order with no dead stock — perfect for testing new designs and artist debuts.

Personalised

Add a name, date or short line on the back (up to 12 characters, +$4) — instant custom gifts.

This series uses one process (laser engraving) and two base finishes (brushed chrome / black matte) to keep the early supply chain simple. Images are rendered previews; actual line width, depth and tone will follow samples.

Our idea: the case, not the insert

Hundreds of millions of reliable windproof inserts are already out there. Making another one means duplicate tooling, fuel tanks, flint mechanisms and packaging — resources we don't need to spend.

So FLAMUSE makes art cases only, sized for standard-size inserts. Keep the insert from the lighter you already own, or buy a replacement insert separately, and slide it into a FLAMUSE case. The insert stays; only the case changes.

FAQ

Will my insert fit?

Compatible with standard-size lighter inserts — regular, vintage, heavy-wall and, we expect, 1941-replica inserts. Slim and 1935-replica inserts do not fit. Use the checker above.

Does the case come with an insert?

No. FLAMUSE sells cases only, by design. Use the insert you already own, or buy a replacement insert from an authorised retailer.

How does the artwork hold up to daily carry?

Printed cases have a UV print under a clear protective coat; like any pocket lighter, edges can show wear over years of carry. For the toughest finish choose stainless relief or laser engraving — there's no ink to rub off.

What about the original manufacturer's warranty?

A manufacturer's warranty applies to that manufacturer's genuine products only. It does not cover FLAMUSE cases, and we can't speak for any other brand. If your insert ever needs service, follow its manufacturer's repair instructions. Warranty terms for FLAMUSE cases (hinge and manufacturing defects) will be published before launch.

Are you affiliated with any lighter brand?

No. FLAMUSE is an independent brand, not affiliated with, authorised or endorsed by any lighter manufacturer.

Is it a good gift?

Yes — every case arrives in a gift box with an art card about the work. Laser-series cases can be personalised on the back (up to 12 characters).

What makes the limited editions collectible?

Stainless relief editions are limited to 199 or 99 pieces, laser-numbered and issued with a certificate. Once sold out, an edition is never reissued.
